Rome, Italy - Palazzo Braschi, from 11 Aprile to 19 August 2018

Giovanni Antonio Canal, better known as the Canaletto (Venice, 17th or 18th October 1697 - Venice, April 19, 1768), was an Italian painter and engraver, a citizen of the Republic of Venice, notoriously a vedutista.

His paintings, in addition to combining the topographic representation of architecture and nature, were due to the careful atmospheric yield, the choice of precise light conditions for each particular moment of the day, and a research carried out with criteria of scientific objectivity, in conjunction with the major Moment of diffusion of the rationalistic ideas of the Enlightenment. Insisting on the mathematical value of the perspective, the artist sometimes used the optical chamber to paint his works.
